Coarse Washed Sand/ Concrete Sand
As its name suggests, coarse washed sand, also called concrete sand, is a coarse sand that is washed and screened to a larger grit. It is used for mixing with cement and aggregate to make concrete. It is also used as a levelling layer for interlock bricks or patio stones.
Sand
Allen’s Halfway Sand Pit Ltd. – our sister company – is a 22-acre sand pit. Allen’s Halfway Sand Pit has been mining sand since opening in the mid 1960’s and is still in operation today. Sand can be used for a multitude of projects ranging from septic beds to sandboxes. Here at Allen’s we carry a variety of different sands for any use.

Sand Fill
Sand Fill is not screened and the size particles are varied. Mostly used for backfill and in certain applications for septic beds.

Fine Washed Sand/ Mortar Sand
As its name suggests, fine washed sand, also called mortar sand, is fine-textured sand that is washed and screened to a fine or medium grain. It is used for playgrounds, sandboxes, volleyball courts etc. and can be mixed with portland cement to create mortar.
